We designed an under water city for Christchurch. It has a massive park, a climbing wall and a spa pool. You are able to breathe under the water because there are trees planted in the sand and the trees give off oxygen. The City Council outcome of a healthy city is met by putting a fish and sushi restaurant in the city to use the natural environment and keep the diet fresh and healthy. People in this under water city would always have plenty of food because of their close proximity to the sea environment. There is also a city shelter where you can sit and have a chat with your friends and watch some t.v. so it would be fair to say that this is an inclusive city. Oops. We haven't thought about how we would get power under our city! Would a windmill work?. Hmmmm. We will research this for next week. Isabel and Stephen.

We designed a city on a cloud. This city floats around because it is sitting on a cloud. This city will not get shaken too badly because the clouds are safe. The only thing is that people will get a fright if they look down on to the earth. The big tower that you can see is a solar powered jet blaster. It has a water collector. You can see plants on top because you would need to plant lots of them to get oxygen. You take a jet plane to get to this city. The main community outcome for this city is a healthy city.

We designed houses to put up in the place of houses that were damaged by the earthquake. The house that we made helped people that lost their houses in the earthquake because it was very safe and looked amazing. The water from the rain goes into the trees and then into a propeller and then goes into the water tank so you have plenty of water. It takes dirty water out. The windmill makes the water go down into the chimney and then into a pot. You can cook your dinner down at the fire place! We made motorised scooters instead of cars to save our environment. If we did have cars, we would have wind propelled cars and if it wasn’t windy, you’d have to scoot. Our house meets the Ch Ch Community outcomes of a safe city and a city of people who value and protect the environment.

I chose to think of an innovative idea to welcome visitors to New Zealand. My idea is to have the All Blacks shake hands with people who come off the plane and the All Blacks in art 3D in customs. I would like to offer a welcome bag with a fern, hokey pokey ice cream and for one lucky person, tickets to the World cup. I researched some ideas on the computer of previous World Cups. The most interesting was the Sky diving World Cup because it is something really new to me! New learning makes for a better world.

We made an underwater city. It has a little plane on skis so you can play on it at the weekend and the plane is also the way that you can get to the city. Every person in this city gets oxygen masks so they can breathe under water. Everyone wears wetsuits all the time and people get very fit from swimming. You can take skis off the plane and go skiing on the seabed under the water. There is no electricity under there. There are traps where you can find gems on your weekend. This city meets the Ch Ch Community outcomes of a city for recreation, fun and creativity.

I built an airport for Christchurch City. It is a very safe airport because it is joined together with cement. It has a launching pad with a solar panel on the top. It has a solar panel on the top to get its energy from the sun so that it has power without using electricity. Near the airport are some earthquake proof houses. They are all one storey and they are joined together to make them more secure. The Prime Minister works next to the airport and you can see how I am building it in the picture. This would mean that if there is an earthquake he could escape in a plane straight away. All houses in the city are near the airport so people can get on a plane straight away. The community outcome that it meets best is a safe city. Alex.

Our city is all about meeting the community outcomes of recreation, fun and creativity. Also, a healthy and environmental city. We have traffic lights to keep cars safe and also a hotel which has a bungy jump board. This will make a fun city that tourists will want to come to and maybe even the Queen of England. Our city has lots of trees for healthy breathing and our city has no chimneys to ruin the environment with smoke. Our city has a special tube which blows out fruit and veges so in an emergency you have lots of food. If you’re lucky, you might get a pie. We have loads of watering cans in our city. The best thing about our city is that it is colourful, cheerful and is the best city in the world. When we make Ch Ch city like this, so many people will come. Yeah!!

We are very annoyed that we can not go to QE2 any more because it was damaged in the earthquake. We have designed a better QE2 we hope. Our new pool is built on a trampoline thing so that it just wobbles in an earthquake. Our new hydroslide has holes where the air comes in and secret pipes that grab the fresh air and push it inside. This new hydroslide has secret tunnels. It is fun so will meet the community outcomes of fun and safety. The air in this one is fresher. Mikayla and Alex.
